If The Raid and The Raid 2 hadn’t already tipped you off, you don’t want to get into a fight with Iko Uwais. And you definitely wouldn’t want to cross him in Peter Berg’s Mile 22, which sees the ultra-punchy action star in the protective custody of Mark Wahlberg. And this is what we hear him saying………
Do you want to live in a world where everybody feels cozy and validated all the time?” he says in the opening voiceover. “Or do you want to live in a world that works?”
Mile 22’s first trailer is here, and there are no Eminem battle raps here (though there is a Jay-Z song on the trailer) — just 22 miles of dangerous terrain across which Wahlberg’s operative and his team have to escort Uwais.
Berg is no stranger to gritty action, having directed the likes of The Kingdom, Lone Survivor and Patriots Day, and this red band trailer shows that he’s back in visceral territory — from Uwais’ violent hospital beat- ‘em-up, to Wahlberg’s sharp-shooting antics. As well as those two, the cast boasts the likes of Ronda Rousey, The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan, and John Malkovich with a creepy goatee.
Here’s the official synopsis:
This Mile 22 trailer certainly doesn’t sugarcoat what it is: a big, loud action movie full of dialogue like, “We get shit done!” Characters also keep saying “overwatch” in this trailer, over and over again, almost as if that should’ve been the actual title of the film. But I suppose producers couldn’t go with that because of the Overwatch video game.
For those keeping count, this is now the fourth major motion picture Rousey has appeared in, but it definitely won’t be the last. So, guys enjoy while you can……...because Mile 22 will hit the theatres on August 3, 2018.
