And just like that, there’s a new DC superhero in town.
Zachary Levi’s living the dream as Shazam.
Batman and Superman weren't around, but do you really need those guys when you've got power trio of Wonder Woman, Shazam, and Aquaman? We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, all he has to do is shout out one word—SHAZAM!
The Warner Bros panel at San Diego Comic-Con was the biggest of the entire weekend, and at the epicenter was its DC superhero roster, with the universe now being called Worlds Of DC.
The 3-minute preview has gotten more than 3 million views since it was subsequently posted on YouTube.
This streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Comic-Con got the very first look at the trailer for "Shazam!," a fun flick about a young boy named Billy Batson (Asher Angel) running into a wizard (Djimon Hounsou) and becoming a muscular, super suited dude (Levi) when he says the magic word. "This is complete wish fulfillment," said the former "Chuck" star and self-admitted nerd. "This is 14-year-old me who got to put on a cape and fly around." Youngsters Angel and Jack Dylan Grazer agreed that Levi was the biggest kid on set. "That’s a fair assessment,” confirmed their geeky co-star.
