Tom Ford lipsticks are some of the most coveted in the industry. Gorgeous colors, a dreamy application, and a long-lasting finish add up to one luxurious experience. So, we always meet announcements of new additions to the portfolio with breathless excitement. And, today is no different.
Boys and girls, there’s about to be a new lipstick line in town.
Tom Ford’s Cardi Blue
The collection was unveiled backstage at Tom Ford Spring-Summer 2019 show at NYFW. Named after people who play important role in Tom Ford’s life, the collection’s highlight is a cobalt blue shade Cardi, that pays homage to American rapper Cardi B.
You may have heard that Cardi B has headed to her Atlanta home after the shocking brawl with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj during NYFW, but while she may have taken a hit—literally—it’s definitely not affecting her coins.
On Saturday (Sept. 8), Tom Ford Beauty announced the introduction to its new line of Boys & Girls lipsticks, and the Bardi Gang was sent into a frenzy with the debut of “Cardi,” the lipstick. In response to the move, the rapper took to Instagram to thank the beauty brand, adding the cryptic message: “So excited about this and what’s to come!!” Could a makeup collaboration be in the works?
While most were expecting to see a “bloody” color or even “Bodak Yellow,” instead the lipstick featured a statement-making blue.
Her shade — a high-shine royal blue dubbed Cardi — is part of the designer's Boys & Girls Mini Lipstick shade expansion, which includes 15 new "girls" and 15 new "boys." If you're not familiar with Tom Ford's Boys & Girls collection, allow us to fill you in on what that really means.
Each $36 lipstick is named after the designer's friends and collaborators, and FYI, Cardi B sat front row at Tom Ford's New York Fashion Week show. But now that you know that Tom Ford gives his besties lipstick, you can safely assume that the high-shine purple, Kaia, is in fact named for supermodel Kaia Gerber. And Armie? Yeah, that's for Call Me by Your Name star Armie Hammer.
Thinking your gonna cop the shimmery lipstick? Think again.
Within 24 hours of its release (in fact, barely 11 hours), Cardi announced to her 32.5 million Instagram followers the $36 lipstick was already sold out online.
Cardi took to Instagram on Sunday night to share the news of the product with a photo alongside the caption: "Sorry :/"
We're sorry too because the lipstick ($36) is currently unavailable on the Tom Ford website, but you can reach out to the brand to find out when can the crazy fans expect a restock.

Just an advice: If you're looking to snag 'em before your friends, they were available on TomFord.com. But, if we were you, we'd try to grab them on the first go-around as we're sure these pretties will sell out fast.
As for if we can expect to restock of the lipstick, it’s unknown. But don’t you worry guys we’ve got some good news too!
Boys & Girls line includes new shades Mia and Parker that will drop in February, as well as a stunning purple shade Kaia, beautiful Jordan, and OL Chadwick.
